Supporting Bubble Readers at the End of the Year FREE TRACKER

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a quick update about The Education Connection podcast.

Beginning next week, new podcast episodes will be released on Saturdays instead of Sundays. Sundays have become a very full day for my family. We attend church in the afternoon at 2:00, and by the time we get home it is time for supper and getting ready for the school week. Moving the release to Saturday will help me create and share episodes in a way that feels a little less rushed.

I’m excited to try this new schedule and hope it works well for you too.

In this week’s episode, I also talk about a group of students I call my “bubble kids.” These are students who earlier in the year were on my list as possible retention candidates, but since January they have made significant growth and are now right on the edge of grade level.

I am incredibly proud of these students.

Right now I have about four students in this category. During our independent reading time, I call these students back almost every day to listen to them read and coach them through tricky words, decoding strategies, and fluency. Even a few minutes of targeted support each day can make a big difference in their progress.

I still work with the students I plan to retain as well, but since they will have another year to grow, I typically call them back two or three times each week for focused remediation.

Sometimes the key to helping students move forward is simply being intentional with a few minutes of our day.

If you would like a way to track this kiddos, I create a free tracker and uploaded it to my TPT Store:

Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord and not for human masters.”

Teaching requires patience and perseverance, and every small investment we make in our students truly matters.

Thank you for listening and being part of this community. I hope this episode encourages you in your classroom this week.

Hello! I recently discovered in the last couple years, "Secret Stories" by Katie Garner. I am not an affiliate. She's just amazing, and her program is amazing. Check her out here! Secret Stories One of the things in "Secret Stories" that I love to teach is Mommy E. This secret is that when mommy 'e' is at the end of a word, she makes the vowel, "Say your name!" I will be dressing up as a mommy, actually like a granny, with a wig! I will teach the lesson that when an "e" is at the end of a...
